The Tudung Issue

What I've got to say in this post may, and will, bring some discontent to those who feel the pinch.

I am not trying to say that I'm all sugar and spice, and neither am I saying that I'm such an angel. But what I observe most of the time really goes up my nerve, worse than a wedgie.

Let me get straight to the point.

I don't understand the reason why some girls wear the tudung. Do they wear it becoz they were forced to do it, or becoz they think they look prettier in tudung, or they are just merely following the crowd?

Those who decide to wear the tudung must wear it for the right reason. Becoz of Allah. And when you wear it, wear it in the proper way, please!

I'm fed up with seeing girls wearing the tudung and yet wear figure-huggin' clothes that is as good as calling it their 2nd skin. The purpose of donning the tudung is to cover oneself fully without showing the shape of your body so as not to attract unwanted attention. As long as you can see the shape of your body, it is already considered wrong.

I've seen countless fashion boo-boos everywhere. Even at religious classes I attend. Girls wearing tops so short that their panties can be seen when they sit on the floor. Not only that, I can even see the skin of their body. She may not be wearing tudung permanently but even if you wear for that single day, please wear it right. Please note that some tops bear it all when you sit, lift up your hands, bend down or do whatever. And then there's the oh-so-famous VPL. It is already such a turn-off for non-tudung wearers, what more the tudung wearers.

There are also cases whereby the wearer wears a translucent top. Skin showing and all.

And ladies, please be careful with how you wear your tudung. Don't becoz of fashion, you forego the real concept of wearing it. Do cover your precious bedendengs (aka breasts) from view. Some pull it so short that I can see the lining of their bras! Urgh!

And one fateful day, while attending a course, I saw a tudung girl (attending the same course as me) having her boobies protuding in full glory. So, imagine this: Small tudung, bra lining, cold room.

What happens next?

Let's just say, 2 peanuts came out to play.

So, ladies, what I'm trying to say is that, when you decide to wear the tudung, do it for the right reason. Only then will you treasure the beauty of a tudung.

I'm not asking for a full arab gear, jubah, jilbab and all.

Just 2 things to note when you wear:

1. Your tudung must cover your chest.

2. Your top must be loose, and covering your butt.

That's it.

So when you start wearing, Alhamdulillah. I pray that God will bestow peace and all things well for you. Wear it once, wear it right, wear it for life. Not on and off.

I hope those who felt the pinch will forgive me. I'm no angel myself. We will keep on reminding each other for the better as long as we're called brothers and sisters in Islam.

Enough said.
