Compren! Compren! Compren!

I want to complain!

Definitely disappointed with the food they served for my school's 60th anniversary last Friday nite. It is supposed to be a GRAND nite. So being the typical Singaporean who adores food, I came with such high expectations. Even though some of us, including me, sampled the food beforehand, and thought it was ok, I still have this tinge of hope and assurance that the food will be better on the actual day.

Boy, was I duped!

Appetizer
The satay tasted okay even though it looked uncooked to me. Never have I seen satay of that colour. A tad too cold. Not something that will make my eyes tear and mouth salivate with anticipation.
No pix for this cos I thought better things will come our way.

Main Course
Till now, a huge bubble is wandering above my head.

Why de hell do they serve the Fried Rice last?

By that time, all of us were oredi pissed with the service, or the lack of it, the rock-will-taste-better food and the holey table cloth that looked like the wash-n-wear diaper. Well, at least that was how I thought and felt.

Aniwez, let's start from the top.

First came the Black Pepper Beef.
After tasting, question is, did they forget to put the black pepper? The taste of soy sauce was more prominent. So let's call it Soy Sauce Beef.

Then came the Honey Lemon Chicken.
Sweet, yes. Soury, not so. Chicken so soggy.

By this time I was wonderin when the Rice will come. It's nicer to eat these dishes with the rice isn't it? And so we waited.

And then came Chop Choy.
Veggie so soft, I can let a toothless grandma swallow without choking. And I thought Chop Choy should contain more than just big chunks of broccoli, cauliflower and thickly-cut carrot. And the taste? OMG, what taste?
I can cook better veggie.

Still wondering when the Rice will come.
Still holding on to a strand of hope that food will be better.
Stomach full with punch that I gulped down, trying to drown the taste. Oh ya, what taste?

Next was Chilli Fish
One word. Ewww.
Ok, I can't juz describe with one word. It was soggy, uncooked, weird-tasting, flaky, floury. What the fish?!?!

By then, we asked for the rest of the dishes to be served at one go. Coz we were all feelin full and pissed. Or was it jus me?

So came the Butter Prawns

Hello... We sampled the Fried Butter Prawns and we liked the FRIED BUTTER PRAWNS. You gave us what I don't know. Wrong dish. Smaller prawns. We were shortchanged. We were duped.

ALAS, came the Fried Rice. The star of the show. Even though we were full, we were still lookin fwd to the Rice. Coz during the tasting, it tasted the best.

I had the honour of diving into the rice first.

Boy, did I regret.

The Rice was clumpy. It lacked spices. It lacked eggs. During the tasting, the fella was generous with the eggs. I want my eggy fried rice!

Of coz, we din finish the rice. Some did not even touch it.

By the time it was dessert, I lost all hope. I gave up. I wanted to go home.

This was dessert.

What is it? Longan and Mango Pudding.

Beats me.

So, that was the dinner. " Linger-fickin' ".

We left with unfinished, wasted food.
