I changed my phone a few months ago. I feel like changin it again. Coz its not perfect. The sliding mechanism is not smooth. And then, I was struck by this thought. I was thinking about all the previous phones that I've ever had. Have you ever thought of that?
It all began with the humble pager that my friends and I went goo-goo gah-gah about. That was when we were in Sec 3. The year: 1997. Back then, when you have a pager, you up there in the rankings. You're a techie. You're high and above. Basically, you're in.
Although I knew there's no way I could afford one, I decided to have a pager cos my love life was beginning to take off. And those who knew me back then, knew how my parents react to having boys in my life. Quoting from my mom: "Kalau aku nampak kau dgn lelaki aku botakkan rambut kau kat situ jugak!" Man, I believed her alright.
So anyway, to ensure that things will be smooth for Mr Cupid, I got a pager from my friend who wanted to give away hers. All I remember was that her surname is Yap. That's what we called her. So Yap, I dedicate this entry to you. I can't remember what exactly my pager looked like. But it must've looked sthg like this. Except that it was dark blue.
And then, things went pretty well with me n boyfren. So, ingatkan nak sehati sejiwa, we got a new pager. The cool blue MTV pager. Sadly I can't show you the pic cos there's not even a single pic of the cool blue MTV pager. Not even after searching 31 pages of google. *Sulk* I hope some of you can remember the cool blue MTV pager. It's so cool. So blue. Loved it. I was so stupid. I gave the pager to my cousin. Should've kept it. Urgh!
Then I took the giant leap for mankind. Into the mobile world.
Each handphone has a sentimental value. First up, the fridge phone. 'Talipon Esbok'. Second-hand from my uncle. It was huge. But who cares! I had a handphone! Damn proud man..
My First Ericsson.
Although, mine had a huge golden ball at the end of the antenna. How Beng can I be huh?
As time passed, I grew embarassed using the phone in public. I'd rather use the public phone.
One day, saw an ad on tv. I can only remember it was a funny jungle ad. There it was...

Nokia 3310.
I was in love. I could remember convincing my dad how cool the phone was. How the shape is so round that it fits the hand perfectly. How the antenna, hmm, has no antenna. How people would think it's so cool to have the latest phone. I did it. I managed to get him to buy me the phone cos coincidentally, there was a pair deal. So he got one, I got one. Anak bapak... He'll surely give in to my sweet voice, doe eyes and irresistable pout. Heh.
Somehow, I changed to motorola.
It was free. Gotten from somewhr. Not stolen okay...
Nah... Didn't like it.
When I started working part time, the itch to change phone came. I saw the oh-so-gorgeous (then) phone with butterfly-shaped buttons.

The Nokia 8250.
Goodbye Moto. Hello gorgeous. I think it was the best looking black n white phone I ever had. So thin and small. Fits so well on my dainty fingers. Now the phone is still around. I gave it to me daddy. And his 3310? He gave it to me mommy. I think the older phones are tougher than today's. Jus look at the heavy-like-brick 3310. Have dropped so many times and yet its still in good working condition. Lempar kat muka orang terus bisu tu..
Then my boyfren suggested we try samsung. So off we went to get Samsung S300. This was the beginning of our sehati sejiwa phones.
My First Samsung. My first coloured phone. My first flip phone. Oooohh...
Beautiful colours. Better than Nokia's. But still, I wasn't satisfied. Took me some time to adapt to the interface. I can't remember for what reason, but we decided to change.
To the Samsung S500.
Similar. But not the same. It was a bad choice. This was worse. I remembered I hated the SMS function. So long-winded. It was not the same as the previous samsung I had. I had to re-adapt again. So serik. I told myself, the next phone I'm gonna get, it's gonna be Nokia all the way.
It was decided that it'll be Nokia 6610.
Like jakuns we were, we went crazee over all the features the phone had. Camera, Video, Radio. Best of all, it came with a CD whr we could transfer photos, ringtones, do all sorts of stuff to it. Then it started to give problems. Albeit minor ones, like jammed display, slowness n stuff, they were jus excuses to change phones again.
So, tra la la la la, we got the next phone. The sleek n cool Nokia 7620.
I loved it. But there were no CD that came along with it. Just loved the look. The swiggly buttons, the metallic and smooooth exterior. But of coz, no phone lastest more than 18mths with me. Pass your due, I'll be hungry for a new one. But one thing for sure, when I get a phone, I never spend more than 300 smackeroos. I see no point in splurging so much coz I know it'll be gone when the time's up. So that's my one n onli rule.
Next was Nokia 7360. L'amour Series. So feminine. I like!
But then I think this was the shortest duration I had with any phone. I don know why. Only with me for less than 6 mths. It was good lookin no doubt. But it always hang lah. Sometimes the icons disappear also. My Hubby didn't experience that. Maybe I suay lah.
Another reason. Another excuse.. to get a new one!
My thirst for 3G phone has now been quenched with the new Nokia 6280.
Yum yum.. my current phone. So excited. Get free 1st 5min of incoming/outgg video call some more.. So ape lagi.. Jakuns alert!! Hubby n me video called like we own the telecom like dat. Tak nak rugi.. Cuma dalam toilet je belum try. If they wanna invent smell-a-vision, pls don invent smell-a-phone also. If not my hubby will be a bigger annoyance.
SO... That's the story morning glory. Confessions of a phone addict. I wonder what's next. I so wanna get a pda phone. But then I'll hafta break my not-more-than-300-smackeroos. Hmmpf!
